Agree drj, we have (Scotland that is) one of the biggest sports stars on the planet yet people quickly lay the boot in when he looses a match. He has continually strived for better even supporting his mates in the Davis Cup while getting his body ready for another shot of glory in the Olympics while the World elite golfers all back out at the first chance they have to compete.
Maybe K19 was keeping an eye on him to dig the boot in again!
People rightly back an underdog in Britain and did with a young Murray, like they did with a young Stephen Hendry, but as soon as they become successful we try knock them back to the ground. We should celebrate our national heroes like A Murray, S Hendry, C Hoy, A Marshall, P Foster, J Murray etc

Much as I like to stick the boot into mummy's boy Murray, he's had a good year and hopefully will get his knighthood after a suitable period after retirement. I don't think any currently performing sports person should be knighted whilst they are still playing their sport. I don't want to see Sir Andy Murrsy or Sir David Becham or Sir Lewis Hamilton or Sir Drug Cheat Cyclist/Runner getting humiliated on court/pitch/circuit/track. Knighthoods should be awarded after they stop competing and after a lifetime of giving back to the sport. Anyway, nice to see the Scottish Daily Retard covered his latest match in the US Open. Nice photo of him with the caption: Andy Murray of Great Britian serves to Marcel Granollers of Spain. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/tennis/andy-murray-defeats-marcel-granollers-8751256ISpelling mistake aside, I assume David McCarthy meant Andy Murray of Scotland...

Well hats off to Murray for that achievement. That's probably the greatest sporting achievement of any British sportsperson I can think of, with the possible exception of Steve Redgrave. I'm not even going to qualify my statement by asking wtf happened to Djokovic, to get to World Number 1 in tennis requires a fantastic level of consistency and determination - the two major criticisms I have always had of Andy Murray. I think you can always 'fluke' a major (plenty of one-hit wonders have done that - like a diddy team winning a Cup) but you don't fluke getting to Number 1 in the tennis rankings. A simply magnificent achievement!

Andy's first serve was phenomenal too ek. The Djoker seemed off the pace a bit. Too many loose shots.

Tonight it was the reverse. Given that he has played 2 x 3hr matches before today he is a machine. I wish we had a footballer with half his determination and ability

Sir Andrew or Sir Andy? Which is it? I can't see the Queen calling him Andy, even if he just lives around the corner.
