What is it about the Six Nations that brings these Armchair Bill McClarens out from under boulders???
You talk to them about football and they correct you - I am a rugby man!! - these roasters usually spend Saturday afternoons at Sainsbury's with there wives and they come complete with imaginary old rugby injuries, half of them cant see there feet when standing up straight!!!! egg chasers I tell you!!
REGARDS

At least in Bills day it was an amateur sport ......another game being spoilt by money and seeing clubs forced out of existence ( London Welsh after 132 years of history etc) and on the bread line having tried to keep up with the big spending clubs. 6 Nations always hyped by BBC and ITV and this brings out all the so called "Rugby" fans most of whom have no idea as to the finer points of the game and couldn't tell you the offside rule or the difference between a ruck and a maul. Just as in July when all the "Tennis" fans appear for Wimbledon it is best to ignore them Shell.

Icing is when the defending team shoots the puck from his end of the ice to the other teams end without anyone else touching it. Something like a hoofball clearance in football. It does not apply if in the opinion of one of the refs, an opposition player couls have touched the puck. You see if icing is called then there is a faceoff in the offending teams end plus they are unable to change personel on the ice until after the resulting face off. A lot of times teams ice the puck in order to relieve pressure and if players are tired but cannot get off the ice due to the pressure being applied. In days gone by they would ice it and take the faceoff and get the fresh players on the ice. Then the rule was changed due to abuse.

Cheers Baldo, I have only ever heard it called by the commentator when watching a game and didn't know what the finer points were, just knew it went back to a face off in the defending sides end.....till now. Lets hope Oilers win as it may be good news for Hibs.

When I lived at Roseburn you'd see them all streaming (and often steaming) down the street 20 minutes into the game and back out again 15 minutes from time. No interest in the event at all.

This Scotland team is good, whether they can beat England is another matter. As with all sports in Scotland we have a decent first choice but there is little depth. Injuries now starting to pile up but you never know. We have been fortunate that oour up cycle has co-incided with Ireland and Wales having a dip. We could have beaten France though, if we had our first choice props then this really would be team of contenders. if any of your heathens need a translation or the big words made smaller let me know!

Tom English writes well about the team in his BBC column. Amazing that we are doing so well despite missing half a dozen key players. Is Vern Cotton staying on - someone said Rutherford was taking over?

Tom English writes well about the team in his BBC column. Amazing that we are doing so well despite missing half a dozen key players. I s Vern Cotton staying on - someone said Rutherford was taking over?Cotter is going to Montpellier next season. If by Rutherford you mean Townsend then yes he is. Basically Townsend was getting huge offers from France and the only way to keep hi, was to give him the top job, which was easy enough as Cotter had big offers too. Thy couldnt afford both and chose the home grown option. That may turn out to be a mistake as Cotter seems to be doing a lot of things right. If you want players to be running through walls for the team for fear of going back into the dressing room after a poor performance, Cotter is your man, a terrifying individual! Townsend too has been known to pull out players in front of the whole squad and show videos of their mistakes to show he wont acept poor performances, he comes accross as quiet and nice by he is a hard task master. Something Hearts look like they could do with at the moment.
