Got one more call in a long line today from "Andrew" At the computer monitoring company. Now being Scottish I know that someone with an East Indian / Pakistani accent is unlikely to be named "Andrew" He did not get the first line of his "I need your credit card no. to fix your computer" scam out his mouth before he was told to "Get tae fuck" Just wondering if any of you on here are blighted by this plague or is it a North American phenomenon only? And if so how do you deal with these chunts?

I rarely answer my phone anymore BB. Only when I recognise name or number otherwise I just let it ring out. If it's important they will leave me a voicemail

It's an epidemic here Bobby. I usually allow them to go on for about 15 minutes then tell them I'm a software engineer for Microsoft. Click!!!!

S'funny Bobby I do exactly the same. Ignore first 20 then answer21st. Listen to their $h!te then tell them to take me off their list. Annoys them then they have wasted time talking to me. Give me your phone number and I'll call you just as you're about to sit down for tea. My favorite is the ballot measures where you have to sign the sheet. Always hanging outside Safeway. I say no, sorry I don't believe in democracy, fairly takes the wind out of their sales.

We never answer the house phone - haven't done for years. Just let it go to answer machine, and if anyone just leaves a message, we call them right back. on the mobiles, we never answer unless we recognise the name or number - ignore the "unknown number" calls. Over here, we have a never-ending stream of firms cold calling to offer you PPI recovery, insurance payouts for the car crash you may or may not have had been involved in a few years back, etc, etc. It's an annoying plague of our modern times, I'm afraid.

As I said above meldrum I usually ignore the calls most of the time too..........but every once in a while I have a major rush of blood to my head and the little guy in India gets his head blown off. I use it as therapy to release pent up frustration.

This scam has been going on for years. There were press articles on it many years ago. They say they're from "Windows", note not Microsoft, and basically charge you to delete perfectly harmless files from your registry. They don't care if you don't have a computer and if you challenge them they forget how to speak English.
The funniest name they ever gave, with not a word of a lie, was Hamish. A broad Mumbai accent calling himself Hamish!! My loud hearty laughing was enough to make the line go dead.

Over here the pricks want your credit card info so they can charge you for the service but once they have that lookout. Your card will be limited out in no time flat. Once they have access to your computer they can steal your identity , bank details etc. Then lookout!

Got another one this afternoon. Told me I had won $45000 and a brand new Ford Explorer "van". In the Stars Lottery. Stars is the local helicopter ambulance that is mainly funded by donations and they also do a big lottery once a year for a brand new house with lots of ancillary prizes too which include cash and cars etc. All I had to do to collect was call the toll free number he gave me and they would have the car towed to my house this evening by Cliffs Towing Service. Cliffs Towing is in Edmonton......300 km away from where I live. I am sure it would have been delivered as soon as I gave them my credit card number to pay for the tow job!

Bobby, I'd recommend paying cash for a toe-job. Saves embarrassment when the bill comes in.
Shoot, I just re-read your post. let's move on.
