Loving seeing the tv ad now about Australia playing England, the "best ODI team in the world". Shades of 1967.

When Scots have more pride in their cricket team than their football team, the writing is most definitely on the wall.

Got to admit I don’t mind watching England play cricket weirdly at all formats but that yesterday was class from Scotland and hilarious towards England. It also shows a mockery of the decision which cost Scotland a World Cup place!
For those not sure what I mean by that certain countries don’t like technology and it wasn’t used in the qualification matches had it been so Scotland could have reviewed a decision right at the end and not lost a wicket and when the rain fell down were just behind on DL calculation and had that wicket not gone down were ahead.
Also the powers at be will now always have Pakistan and India in the same WC group so they don’t both get knocked out as they generate so much money with the fans, and we moan about corruption at FIFA!

Totally agree Dav.
The ICC should hang their heads in shame when it comes to the decision to downsize the world cup. Surely they should be bending over backwards to accommodate the likes of Scotland, Netherlands, Afghanistan, Nepal, etc, etc to encourage more participation within the associate nations, not making it harder and harder to feature in their showpiece tournament??

Cricket is and always was an elitist sport. That may be why they are trying to keep lesser known nations out. Just my opinion though.

I'm not sure that is as true as it once was BB. Perhaps more true in Scotland than in England where most high schools play. Similarly Rugby is very much a private school sport in Scotland and is much more open in England.

I'm reminiscing about the good old days when this was a sports forum. Cricket & Rugby are bad enough but the patball starts at Wimbledon soon. Any croquet tournies in the calendar?
