Personally though Naisy team selection was week and cowardly today (almost as if Neilson had pre selected it). He had the chance to be brave, shake it up and really go for it. I agree to some extent, it was hugely disappointing to see the team selection but I'm not sure he had a 'free hit' at the start of the game - he probably wanted experience and calm heads. The most depressing/worrying thing was he didn't throw caution to the wind to chase an equalizer after we went a goal down. Did he think Hearts fans would accept a tame 1-0 defeat from Hibs? He had a 'free hit' at that stage of the game and failed to take it so yes, perhaps overly cautious at the start of the game and cowardly/foolish after going a goal down. A chance missed to impress the fans, that's for sure.

Not wishing to be funny but i'm a Hibby who watched Jack Ross take us to a cup final twice and get sacked before the 2nd of those cup finals only to be replaced by Sean Maloney...work that one out? Now i'm watching Robbie Neilson who hasn't actually done much wrong bearing in mind 3rd is all you can ask of a non Ugly outfit, only to be replaced by someone with no real proper managerial experience just like Maloney. Being an assistant is not the same thing as i'm sure we all know by now. Just sayin!

Hibs recruited Maloney to be permanent manager. Just sayin!

Maybe, maybe not but that's not the point here. Talking about Naisy not being the "one". He's NOT full stop!

Tarts fans on this and other sites been screaming for RN to go and for Naisy to get the job. YES? Erm, not sure that’s factually correct but await you providing evidence of such claims. To pinpoint a couple of fans on this forum and several more on I presume Kickback as the general concensus of how the majority of fans feel is very naive but you already know that. I think you’ll find that if Neilson was to be dismissed, the short term solution was Naismith until the end of the season- that’s how it’s panned out- Naisy, despite what you infer, has not GOT THE JOB- it’s temporary.

I think this site most have wanted RN out, my own take was it was to early as 3rd was still and still is achievable granted the football played hasn’t suited the fans and the results of late have been poor. I’m guessing but it looks to me like Hearts tried to get the bounce that Robson got at Aberdeen and Kettelwell got at Motherwell and it backfired on Saturday but it may still be proven correct. So I’d ask you all would Hearts with Neilson have got a better result or performance on Saturday? Realistically who should get the gig next season as I don’t think SN is the long term answer?

dav. If it is possible( and I think it is) the result would have been worse on Saturday had Neilson and Snodgrass still been there. The team had given up on Neilson and Snodgrass by all accounts has been a bit of a disruptive( being kind) force in the dressing room. To expect Naisy to turn things around in a few days was always going to be a 50/50 proposition. I look forward to what will happen effort and application wise ( and tactics) this weekend. All the focus on the firing is now history. Back to work. If there is no or little improvement this weekend? Third is over and management can really apply themselves to the search for a successor. Who that will be? I am not sure. But Chris Wilder is getting loads of speculation and am hearing he is 2/1 favourite at the bookies. No idea if true or just fan/ media inspired rumour or if it is a possibility. I know nothing about the guy myself so have no feelings one way or the other. One thing is for sure. We don’t need another experimental ( young/inexperienced) manager. Nor do we need any of the recyclable managers from Scottish football.

I posed this question a couple of weeks ago. Who could we get to replace RN who was better quality? I doubted we could and still do but RN had peaked and had to go. It's a real dilemma. I don't believe that Naisy will be the man but fear the club might go that way. However I'd like to see him stay on the staff for a while yet.

Well I disagree Dav, don’t think most on here did want Neilson out and it’s hardly a broad spectrum of Hearts fans ffs, maybe 10 on here who contribute regularly. Also, your question is unanswerable tbh- how would anyone know if the performance or result would have been better with Neilson in the dugout. In my opinion, it won’t be Naismith- who it might be, like most, no fecking idea but I will state clearly that I certainly don’t want a ‘tried and tested” SPFL manager ie, McInnes, Robinson etc, etc.

For what it's worth, I think most fans wanted something to change. We've got everything in place to be a success on the pitch and for whatever reason, it just wasn't happening. Sacking Neilson to replace him with Naismith till the end of season feels stupid. Sacking him if you have a permanent replacement lined up makes more sense.
Tbh, we've been in need of a reset for a while. It still annoys me how many people we seem to have injured at any given time and the age profile of the squad isn't ideal. I know most fans want a risk averse appointment but I'd much rather have ambition with whoever we appoint. Whether that's ambition with a young unproven manager, or a bigger, more experienced coach, I don't mind as long as we aim high.
And on that, we should be aiming high whilst being mindful of the pond we swim in. We are a medium sized fish in a very small puddle in the grand scheme of things
