A letter sent to Scott McIntosh who runs the podcast Amoruso lets it run. I thought it deserved a thread as it’s what a lot of people are thinking at the moment. Don’t know if it’s coincidence but the FOH Website is down at the moment. Lots of unhappy fans are trying to contact them. www.amorusoletsitrun.com/post/we-re-lucky-to-have-a-club

No need to bash Levein and Budge so much but I guess it's therapy for him during these painful times. That said, the policy of promoting from within clearly hasn't worked, just as the plan to develop a Hearts style which runs all the way through from youth to first team isn't working (and probably never will). A fresh approach with an outside management team is desperately needed.

Budge has made big mistakes and several managers were pretty much out of their depth but those issues are largely in the past. I have two issues right now.
1) We have not spent our healthy budget effectively. 2) We are not getting the best out of the players we have.
Whose fault it is seems secondary. Someone, whoever, needs to sort this out.

Social media and the forums are looking as bad as it was when Neilson was sacked. If Hearts lose at Killie and Ross County this week it’s going to be carnage. Lots of people cancelling FOH Debits already.

I am one who doesn’t lay the blame solely at Ann Budges door, she is on the board alongside others and NOW does not have the final vote on appointments. I have said it before the need for a football person on the board and a director of football are what’s needed and imo theses people should have no previous connection with the club. Manager appointment was made by the board who clearly do not have the knowledge of what’s needed, Off the field , and again I say these budgets have no effect on the player budgets, we are very sound and it is a worry that FOH donations are in danger of reducing, but currently other than not attending ,this is the only course of action to fans to get things changed. Whether that will prove successful is another matter and I can see the board digging their heels in for a period whilst the fans see the season fizzle out. I really can’t see anything coming from Ross County, Kilmarnock, the Hobos, and the old scum that will be positive as the team on the park seemed devoid of ideas under the current structure yet it is the players who will get the stick from the stands while others can cower away from the issue🤬🤬

Lots of people cancelling FOH Debits already. I fear the worst, McKinley was complaining last year that somehow Hearts never seem to lay a glove on Sevco and Celtic. Naisy had a go (nothing to lose) and gave them a bit of a fight and was appointed full-time manager (sort of). I fully-supported Naisy being given a crack at it but, like all of us, it seems I was blinded by his end of season, nothing to lose, gung ho approach. Now we don't even seem to be able to lay a glove on Dundee, Killie, Motherwell or St Mirren. That is regress (and considerable regress) not progress and we need to stop the rot very, very soon. With the fixtures programme we have just had, we should have been top of the league, unbeaten and flying as we prepare to face the big clubs and Hibs - but we have completely messed it up. New manager and new captain if it isn't sorted out by the weekend.

Quite a few hobos allegedly on that particular thread on JKB. The monthly contribution figures for September and October will say whether there has been many cancellations- my guess is there won’t be that many. Some folk stating they are going to increase theirs!! Social media bluster

I'd like to ask a question. What is the general expectation for Hearts? A good season would be finishing 3rd? Bad would be outside top 6?
The criticism of the brand of football is strange to me. It's been shite for years, I can remember one occasion where what we played actually impressed me and that was against Aberdeen in a cup game at tynie the year after we'd won promotion.
There are limitations within the Scottish game and in all honesty, I think the issues at board room level at hearts stem from issues within Scottish football. It's a mentality thing that feeds down where we accept that 3rd is as good as we can be. It will take years of good, progressive management to change that but we always seem to be 2 steps forward, 3 back. Most of it has been circumstance, with the occasional bad decision thrown in.

I think the problem is that some fans think that’s the only way they can make their feelings heard by the board. It worked with Neilson and when he was sacked they restarted their DD’s.

My personal opinion is that having come up and getting a well deserved third place while in a healthy financial position we should have been favourites to hold that position most years for an extended period. Last season we were in a good position in December after coming through a long run of Thursday-Sunday games and having had virtually no defenders and no strikers for much of that time. Adding in the profit from Europe and a firm base to start from we should have pushed on from there and skooshed 3rd place. Realistically we can't compete with the Uglies financially but we should have been aiming to keep improving , say a few more points each season, and slowly being able to sign better and better players. Repeated 'runs' in Europe would have kept the money coming in to keep gaining a little more advantage year on year. As I said in an earlier post we've wasted more money than any of our rivals and have actually gone backwards with bottom six a real possibility at this early stage of the season. No team has consistently finished third but no team has had such a good opportunity to 'dominate' the rest than the one we've wasted in the past two seasons (so far).

With our budget we should be aiming for 3rd place every season and minimum top 4 and a good cup run. Anything else should be classed as a failure. This season we’ve looked second best against Dundee, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and St Mirren as they know how to play against our slow possession football. Most of our signings are struggling with the physical side of Scottish Football. The fans are not happy and are booing every sideways / backward pass just as they did with Neilson. Naismith has only got a couple of games before the shit really hits the fan. Meanwhile our new hotel with 22 bedrooms is on track for opening as I’ve had an email asking if I want to be one of the first to stay there.

When we beat the sheep our coaching staff were the first to say 'we won the physical battles then played our football'. So every team is saying the same and 9 times out of 10 the opponents seem to be more up for it than us. Look at St Mirren last weekend - extremely physical all over the park, putting a couple of our players off for stiches/bandaging for head knocks. Not saying we should be retaliating but we need to be able to deal with that sort of 'commitment' from the other teams and at the moment (since forever) we are coming up short - so, if you are playing Hearts, win the physical battles and try to nick a goal on the break and the game is as good as won. The annoying thing is, this is being proven time and time again, week in, week out.
Not saying we should be signing hammer-throwers for Hearts but we need people who can deal with the physical demands and we don't have (m)any. We can't match the uglies for star quality players and we seemingly can't find a place in the team for a couple of fit, strong, hard-working journeymen, which all the diddy teams are seemingly filled with. We are somewhere in between; Hearts is a home for reasonably talented, physically weak football players. Give them time and space and they'll occasionally be able to look like footballers; deny them time and space and rattle them physically and they'll run off crying to their mummies that the big boys wouldn't allow them to have any shots at goal.

I don’t think the club are looking for strong hard working journeymen. They think we’re too good for that type of player. They’re too busy trying to bring in a hidden gem that will make us millions.

Budge out and sack the board graffiti next to the electric car chargers at McLeod St. all over social media this morning.
