Let's not get too carried away with the Porto stuff eh....he had to make a challenge without a doubt otherwise it's probably a goal. the follow through is as much a protection for a tackler as anything as the other guy is also in the process of kicking as well. Did he get it wrong ? yeah and it's a penalty, the Red card i thought was kinda 50-50. but that's just my view, others clearly disagree.

Who's fault was the defeat? Porto, nope, we were just Rank, full-stop. No hunger, no imagination, no nous of any kind, no real clues as to how to defend good players and no game plan about what happens when we go behind early which we did and as mentioned no shots at goal of any kind. I mentioned that Wir werden gefick.....yip, we did!

You can say he had to make a challenge but there is no way he had to make that specific challenge. It's a horrific tackle and Gundogan is lucky his leg isn't broken. He's jumped up in the air with two feet studs showing. What angers me more about is there was a passage of play prior where he was reckless - he was in a mindset to leave a mark and instead of thinking oh I need to calm down, he just increases the recklessness.

It’s a shocking leg breaking tackle. There’s no debate on whether that is a red card.

I'm not getting at Porteous because he's a former Hibby, hfc - although I made the point that Hearts fans have seen his thuggish behaviour and playacting many tines before. He was infamous for his terrible behaviour back in the day - ask Steven Gerrard for his thoughts on Porteous.
Even Neil McCann commented after the team was announced that he hoped Porteous didn't let the team down by reverting to type - he was a disaster waiting to happen.
No he wasn't the only one who had a shit game but his challenge wasn't a Colin Hendry or Steven Pressley throw your body in front of it last gasp block type challenge; it was a thuggish assault that could have ended a player's career.
Scotland hero Willie Miller stated the tackle left him feeling sick as he branded the challenge "horrible".
On BBC, Miller said: "You're not going to win the ball with a tackle, you've got to try and block it.
"He should be trying to make himself big and be a block rather than a tackle.
"What he's actually done is combine the scissor challenge with an over the top into the ankle, it's horrendous and makes you feel a bit sick.
"Gundogan is lucky because his studs are in the ground and he's fortunate they bounce up when the tackle goes in, otherwise it's a snap. It's horrible. It's a horrible challenge."
