I would be interested in reading people's thoughts on Callum. Try to NOT respond to the thoughts of others but make the post about your opinion
For me. Potentially great right back. When he has his head screwed on he is a very effective wingback. I think his defensive side needs work but he may need to go south to do that. I've always thought there was a bit of a "I am great" thing with him which he needs to lose. Yesterday it was as if he had decided before the game that he was going to do a scissor kick. He must have tried it at least 5 times. He blames team mates when he makes mistakes which again, isnt good. I get the impression he resents still being here. All in all I think he is potenially great but poor atitude could ruin his progress

I think yesterday was one of those that his feet weren't doing what his brain was asking, everything he tried just never happened that said was a wee bit unlucky with a couple of headers,he is still not the finished article but has a very good career in front of him

I only see him periodically and he usually impresses in an attacking role. But, for me, the first criteria for an attacking fullback is the defensive duties.
The way the winger went past him yesteday was embarrassing. A dip of the shoulders and a 5 metre sprint and I'd be passed him (well 40 years ago lol)
You can let the winger go past you or the ball go past you, but never the ball and the winger!
Personally I would play him in midfield not RB.

Nothing happened for him yesterday and he took his frustration out on his team mates, I'm sure he was slaughtered in the dressing room after the game.
One of the first names on the team sheet though.

You wonder what his attitude is like in training as it is that that will or should decide if he plays on a Saturday, anybody can have an off day and he certainly had that yesterday and blaming team mates for at times his own short comings will not help. He is going to move on to better things but I suspect he is not as good as he thinks he is and the English Championship may be his limit. RN may need to drop him if this continues we have other options albeit less experienced but so was Patterson not so long ago
He was at fault yesterday for the goal but so were the rest of the defence that gave Crawford all that space once the ball was crossed in. In keeping with many modern defenders Patterson is at times found wanting when actually defending, the days of Davy Holt are long gone.

He is still young and has had his head turned. Even if he feels a loyalty to the club he may be pissed off that they rejected offers which would have increased his pay packet.
I would expect him to settle down, if it affects his performance like it did yesterday then his value will drop again, so hopefully he will realise that and screw the nut.
Give him time, he maybe just had a bad day,we all have them at work.

Robbie Neilson's got a difficult managerial job to do here. Paterson is a very good player who should be an automatic pick and we are a weaker side without him, but only if his mind is right. Calum, I think has decided he needs to move now (and purely based on what I saw yesterday) doesn't have his mind right. He's definitely here until January but do we continue to play him and risk a potential fall out in the dressing room or do we recognize that Liam Smith is the longer term future and put him in.....it's a thinker for me

If he has any sense and really wants to make the most of himself as a player he will knuckle down and give it his best and he could win a move to a more fashionable Club than the likes of Wigan. The ball is in his court.

I am not absolutely blown away by CP. When he broke into the team at a young age his biggest asset was his physical presence, especially for such a young guy. He has improved technically over the last few years, particularly in his delivery from wide areas but defensively he is still a work in progress. I can understand why there was only moderate interest from only one club during the last window. I am sure he will still get a move down south, but if he doesn't step up a gear over the next few months it may well be to a pretty mediocre outfit. He will probably still get an impressive pay hike though, so he might not be too bothered.

On Saturday the first 3 or 4 times he had the ball he lost it and his mind was away from then on. He did seem calmer in the 2nd half and got back into the game though.
He's always had these days when he loses the plot but they've become less frequent. He really needs to eliminate them completely if he's to realise his undoubted potential. Took out his frustration on Djoum who gave him a fine pass which he missed, which isn't acceptable as this causes unrest in the whole team.
For the sake of his career he needs to get his mental state sorted out and soon but when he eventually goes we'll miss him enormously.

Lots of good points,my own would be that he could do a lot better than Wigan, so once he calms down about not moving last window, his form will return. He still is a work in progress but if he can,t dominate defensively in Scotland he may no be such an attractive buy. Let's remember Calum only Wigan bid for you.

Not been on here for many moons (so long I forgot how to log in as CalsJJJambos) so back again having reregistered.
Anyway, whilst agreeing with much of the chat re Callum P I don't think his effort or commitment in any game I've seen him is in doubt. Temperament; maybe. Thinking he's a bit better than he is; maybe that too.
But I had a wee encounter with him after the game on Saturday that tells me clearly he gives a shit about our club and the supporters. I was there with my wee lad (for his birthday) for the first time since he smashed his leg in a bad accident in the summer. Leg in a mechano-like fixator for 6-8 months, 15 holes in it from 10 metal pins and a right mess after multiple and open fractures. Anyway, we spot Callum as we're pushing the wee guy in the chair back to the car along Gorgie Road. We catch his eye and so he pulls the car in, gets out, signs an autograph, does the photo for hopalong and chats for 10 minutes encouraging him to get better and generally making the wee mans day. Picture @callumsinclair1 on the twitter thing.
So, in my mind, whatever Callum P goes on to do (and I think and hope it will be plenty) and wherever he goes on to do it he takes much credit for taking time out yesterday to make a wee boy's day. Class act after not his best day at the office.

Great story callums1. It is things like that which can make all the difference in the world. It cost him nothing to do it and he certainly didn't have to do it but ..he did! Always nice when a psuedo celebrity remembers where they came from and give back.
