Not sure how many golf fans we have on here. I only really follow golf when the Majors are on although I keep pretty clued up because I have Sky Sports News on in my house far too much!!
No Rors this week it would appear, the silly laddie picked up a nasty injury playing 'soccer'. Deserved it for calling our beautiful game soccer!!
Jordan Speith with another good win last weekend looks unstoppable. St Andrews is set up for the big hitters and Spetih is not one of them but his putting is second to none and that might just be enough.
Rickie Fowler is always there or there abouts in Majors and off the back of a Scottish Open win he must be in with a chance of wining his first major.
Lets not rule out Tiger Woods though. He found a bit of form at the weekend, not sure how far off the lead he finished but he was hitting the ball well and putting well and we all know he is capable!!
My long shots have to Marc Warren and Shane Lowry

Pretty good assessment apart from Tiger. Everything you said about him applies to me as well and the odds of me winning are about he same as those for Tiger.

aye thats true, tough to rule him out though but you're right he's no 241st in the world for nothing. Can only get about 20/1 on him to win it

My pick would have to be the obvious. Jordan Spieth. He is untouchable at the moment and so cool under pressure. The laddie could carry an ice cream cone around in his pocket and it wouldn't melt. Plus the fact he is such a modest young man. In short he appears to be everything Tiger is not and never was.

Well my money is on Justin Rose, Louis Oosthuizen, and my outsiders - Matsuyama Hideki & Kevin Na (I got him at 125/1, he's now 200/1 - bummer!)
All of them backed each way, so hopefully have some interest come Sunday.
(Rickie Fowler looking good though).

However easy on the "soccer" comment, which is very much a UK term for football used from the late 1800s. US only uses it to differentiate between that and American Football. Been here so long now I find myself calling it soccer. Hey ho.

Always hard to predict The Open, apart from the Faldo and Tiger years, maybe. Fowler won last week so will he do a Mickleson? Will the weather help the early starters? I'll be hoping for Garcia, Donald or Rose to be in there at the death but there's plenty of guys capable of winning including a whole bunch of Americans and maybe an Aussie or two. There's normally a few 'unheard ofs' around the top for the first couple of days too so, as always, it's going to be a great event and I will try to watch as much of it as I can. Holiday here on Friday for the Muslim Feast so that's great for golf fans.

Let's hope a Brit or a European can win, but the USA young guns are coming in with form

Introduction to backache and a long wait for hip replacement if you ask me.
Although I have to say that anything that has a competitve edge, I am all over. I would watch Hearts play Hibs at hoposcotch, I even watch things like the Bakeoff purely because it is competitive

the amount of Skill/power/precision/accuracy/mental strength that's required to play golf at the highest level is probably second to none. Such fine margins can be the difference between making it and making and shit ton of money or suffering at the lower end of the game fighting hundreds of others to get a spot which might be your big break.
I'm shite at golf and you can ask any one of my mates how much I hate even the thought of playing it but I admire what these golfers can do with a stick and ball!!

Jokes aside it is an amazing skill. And as the great Gary Player wasa heard to say, The more I practice the luckier I get.
