Ok it's no football, but darts is my biggest sport after football and congratulations to Robert Thornton in winning the Grand Prix beating Van Gerwen in the final,we may be shite at most sports but we have 3 WORLD class darts players in the top five now, what an achievement when you see the standards set now.

Well it's not a sport in my eyes but it's certainly a skillful game and playing in front of hundreds of chanting supporters must get the adrenalin flowing and can't be easy. Don't know much about the professional game tbh, except the Phil Taylor won about 100 World Champs, but they market it well even with 2 competing bodies. I thought they only played televised darts in January - what's this current comp?

Now if we could just convince the rest of the world that athleticism and drinking are a good combination, it wouldn't be long before we would win the World Cup! Scott Brown could be held up as a shining example to all!

Just trying to get a wee rise there Fred. I have watched darts a couple of times in the last few years and had noticed that they seemed to be drinking only water. Does that mean they can drink when it is not their turn?

So because they don't run it's not considered a sport is that what yer saying?? Now I understand your view however do you consider golf, snooker etc a sport also?? if it's not a sport how does Phil Taylor become runner up in sports personality of the year!??

Premier League Darts tickets booked for The Hydro next year, there may not be any drink on stage but I'm guessing a fair few will be shifted in the crowd!
