time wise I think i'm doing well but obviously as the distances increase i'll get more of an idea. my original target was to beat 2 hours for the half marathon. 9 minute miles gets me in at 1:57. i'm probably averaging closer to 8.30 per mile just now and i'm hoping that that a little adrenaline and support from the crowd that I might even break 1:50. tough ask though

Morning Gents, as you all know I am in training for the Half Marathon on the 29th of May and I am raising money for the MS Society. If you fancy donating to help me get to my fundraising target. Here's the link www.justgiving.com/Chris-Sim1if any of you use Strava to track your runs or cycles I am on there too and you can see my progress. Training is going really well and I've lost a ridiculous amount of weight which was part of the reason why I am doing this Anyway, thank in advance and i'll keep you posted with how i'm getting on I thought I'd give this a wee bump, hopefully we can help Simmy reach his target.

Hi Simmy,
It's time for a quick update.
How is the training going - any injuries or niggles?
You started at 17 st. 4 lbs. with the hope of losing some weight - how are you doing?
How is the sponsorship doing - have you exceeded your target? I know you have but by how much?
Of course this is only a thinly veiled bump.
C'mon guys. MS is is an awful disease, of course many other are as well, but to still have an active mind inside a body that is slowly degenerating with increased dependence on others is pretty sad.
Simmy is doing this to help others. Why not drop a fiver into his charity contribution?
Go Simmy! BT

Cheers BT and apologies i've been rammed at work the last few weeks so this is first time i've managed to get one here
a huge thank you to everyone who has donated to my page. You know who you are and it won;t be forgotten. Very kind of you all. My target was £250 and that has been smashed and i'm currently sitting just short of £290 with the parents and a couple of mates all still to donate. I'm hoping to try and push for £400 which I would be delighted with.
Training has been a bit stop start over the past few weeks but I did manage the Great Edinburgh Run a couple of weeks back. !0 miles up hills such as the Mound, The Pleasance, Arthurs Seat to name a few. I managed it in 1 hour 28 minutes which I was delighted with. I'll get a photo added to this with me and the medal. Genuinely the hardest thing I have every done and i'm not even sure the half marathon will be as difficult because that's mainly flat.
Injuries and niggles have really kicked in though which is half the reason the training has taken a bit of a slow down to make sure I am ok for race day. I will be picking up the training again next week with quite a lot of High Intensity training coupled with distance runs of between 8 and 10 miles at the weekend. I'm feeling confident but the injuries may flare up like they did in the Great Run but I pushed through the pain barrier and I will do exactly that when it comes to Race day on the 29th. Nothing is going to stop me finishing this race!
As for the weight loss, well I have now hit the 3 stone mark!! last weigh in was yesterday and even though I haven't done much the last few weeks I still managed to lose a few lbs. I am now sitting at 14 stone 4 lbs and hoping to make it in the 13 stone category by the time I finish my training in the run up the race. It hasn't been cheap to lose this weight though. I've had to bin pretty much all mu clothes because they were hanging off me. now comfortably managing to fit into Large T shirts which is a first in many years!!
I really do appreciate all your support and it's great to see that you have taken an interest. It's given me an extra lift and i'll be sure to keep this thread updated over the next 4 weeks!!
Thanks again all

Just a final note on this. My half marathon is this Sunday and while training hasn't gone the way I would have liked the last few weeks I think I am as ready as I can be!! I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated and who has supported me throughout this. I genuinely can't believe I've got myself to this stage. 17 stone 7 in October, struggling to run for longer than a minute and then managing several races and significant weight loss.
I'll let you know how I get on, due to my ankle injury the sub 2 hour mark might be stretching it a little bit but i'm still going to go all out for it. I just want the medal! After this I can set my next target!! London Marathon perhaps!!
Thanks again!
