Yet another reason why our poor pissy game is fucked for the long haul.
Give it 2 generations and you wonder how much of our game will be left.

I'm going to watch it so it isn't a problem for me.

It's a poor choice of fixture by the BBC but to be honest the whole FA Cup card over the weekend was poor. It's a live game on the National broadcaster...we pay the same licence fee so no reason why we don't get the chance to watch it. Not getting you're Armageddon take on it hfc, sorry

You obviously haven't noticed all those young Scots kids who don't even support a Scottish Club side maroon, wonder how that happens? . . gee let me guess!

C'mon hfc...there were bairns following English clubs when I was at primary school...nothing new there. As for the Scottish game tonight..thats on TV too and I'll bet the Liverpool game won't hit the attendance at Rugby Park tonight

How many kids when u were growing up bought Man Utd. Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal tops not to mention Barca, Real, La Galaxy etc. They were never on tv the way they are now. It has a massive impact on the youth of today in terms of what they see. What about Satelite TV subscription fees, what about BBC licence fees. How much of that cash goes to Scottish Football. Not much. The problem Scottish Football have is real alright and you see it everywhere.

I can sympathise with HFC's sentiments. But it's a global game now and youngsters can watch matches all over Europe.
In Belgium, as a standard offering i.e. not needing a Sky-type subscription, Belgian kids can watch Belgian, BBC1&2, Italian, French, German and Dutch terrestial channels including league football in all of these countries plus Champions League. Belgium is doing not bad at the moment. We have problems but "banning" for the want of a better word, English football is not the answer.

hfc, I'm in my 50's. I can remember having an Arsenal and Newcastle strip..and my mates had English shirts too. Ok no foreign kits but that was because there was none to have. I think keeping kids engaged in football is the key...they can't all go to watch Chelsea, Man U etc and hopefully they will end up with their "local" Scottish side when they want the real live experience

Another aspect of globalisation is travel. I am not long back from tenerife where like many grandfathers I bought my 1 year old grandson his first strip at the local market. He is called james so it was a real madrid strip with his name James (rodrigues)on the back. Shirt and shorts for €10 - ye cannae whack it.
He may rarely see Hearts play as I am in Belgium and he is in England but he will still be brought up in the faith.
