Have to agree with hfc on this one. Over the festive season I asked a couple of young family members (8 and 10) what their favourite team was. The answer was in order Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barca (it turns out they are the best teams on FIFA 15) and as an after thought Hearts. I'm not particularly old in terms of this forum and I was astounded at this. When I was a kid in the 80's anyone I know would have answered firstly with either Hearts or Hibs (possibly the odd ugly or sheep glory hunter) then if pushed would of probably said Liverpool as an English team. I think this is a problem which been brought about by Sky TV and them marketing the whole EPL as the best thing you could ever dream of watching along with the lack of coverage of Scottish Football over he last 15-20 years. Thinking back the only time I remember seeing English football was the FA cup or Saint and Grievsie.

Sure sky has to take some blame but the powers that be, in Scotland, are as much to blame. Our game WAS prevalent on Sky but the GFA didn't market it beyond the old firm. Outside Glasgow, football doesn't exist in their minds hence the game up here has died a slow death. Punters aren't going on watch their local teams and are distant ugly supporters. Kilmarnock is a prime example, average gate around 4k and they have a huge catchment area.

I also agree that the narrow mindedness of our football authorities is equally to blame. Also the the third prong of the Trident which is killing our game is the Champions league. UEFA bleat on about financial fair play but in reality a financially fair competition would not admit 3 runners up from one league and omit the Champions of another.
