Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings have been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.
The pair clashed during the 1-1 draw between their sides on Saturday when Mings, 23, landed on the United forward's head with his studs.
Moments later, Ibrahimovic caught Mings in the face with his elbow at a corner. BBC
Disgraceful tho the stamp by Mings is (and it was absolutely disgusting), I note that Ibrahimovic deliberately stamped on Mings and then fell over pretending he was the person fouled just before Mings got up and stamped on him. Ibrahimovic's elbow in the face of Mings followed by the claim that Mings attacked his elbow with his head is equally disgraceful. Both players were obviously at it throughout the game but they can't hold private fights in public like that - they both deserve long bans for this and I hope both managers come out and say this is the case and don't try to defend the players.
Or should they be allowed to have a good battle and nothing more be said because neither of the players are complaining - because it's a man's game after all? I think both players were way over the top and recklessly endangering each other's careers and this sort of behaviour must be stamped out (no pun intended).

An excellent description of all aspects of the debate surrounding this incident. There is no right answer but it being a "mans game" is not an excuse for thuggery. Over the years there have been many so called hard men - Mackay, Bremner, Souness, J. Charlton, Norman Hunter etc.
But no matter how aggressive a confrontation there was no one stood on their head, elbowed them in the face etc.
Football should be about Cryff, Messi, Iniesta, Best, Jim Baxter, Willie Hamilton, Alec Young - add your own hero.
They will all be remembered for what they contributed to the game - Mings, Zoltan (I've never been a fan) I don't think so.

Another shocking display by the referee who in my opinion saw all the incidents but chose to ignore them.

Another shocking display by the referee who in my opinion saw all the incidents but chose to ignore them. He probably couldn't believe what he was seeing but he sent off the man who told him to get a fucking grip.
