Capitals stumbling towards extinction with many fans cancelling dd's for season tickets and fans deserting the games in droves. Many disillusioned with the owners and management with no communication forthcoming as to the future of the club.......feel that once they reach the final game of the season it will be the end in more ways than one. Back on the ice they have a very difficult week......away games against Sheffield Steelers (Wednesday), Milton Keynes Lightening (Thursday), Belfast Giants(Saturday) and finally finishing up at home against Cardiff Devils on Sunday. Three of the sides are looking at play off spots so must regard the Capitals as cannon fodder and need to score as many goals as possible to aid their cause. Steelers 7 : 2 Capitals Lightening 8 : 2 Capitals Giants 2 : 4 Capitals.........what a funny old game as the caps come away from Belfast with an unexpected victory against the second placed team in the league

Cheers for that Bobby.......stunning save and awareness of where the puck may go. Look forward to seeing him live as he tries to keep your boys out. Capitals have just lost their new netminder, ex Dallas draft, and has made a big difference with the team conceding 9 and 10 goals in the last 2 games. As in most sports a good goalkeeper / netminder are worth their weight in gold.........as the JT's have found with their keeper in the last few months.

Well we scored 4 against him a couple of weeks ago and chased him to the bench but the way things have been going lately for The Oil I fancy a Tampa win. We are out of the playoffs and are only playing a spoiler role at the moment. Depends what team shows up on the night for us. McDavid should still put on a show for you though. Not too often he get kept off the score board.

So. You should be in Florida by now N.H. The Oil played the Panthers today. An early afternoon game. Typically they do not do well in early games but today they did great. Down by a score of 2-1 after two periods it was not looking great as the Panthers had not lost a game all season long when leading after two periods. Final score was 2-4 Oilers with an empty netter. The Oil are really relishing their role of playoff spoilers and dealt the Panthers a nasty blow by winning making it harder for the Panthers to make the playoffs. Tomorrows game is an early start too so I hope the Oil come out of the blocks flying again and Conor puts on a great show for you.

Oil did come out flying Bobby as you probably saw........disaster from the Lightnings netminder and then a lucky break for the Oil as he deflected the cross / shot in , all within 30 seconds of the start. Then a combination of great net minding and poor luck prevented you from taking something from the game and spoiling the party.
All 3 Lightning goals had some luck attached.....first a slapshot taking a deflection in, second a power play goal that barely went in and the third a trickle in with the netminder unsighted!
Although the Lightning defense played well I feel the Oil didn't take advantage of their power plays, especially the double one in the third and by failing to convert any let Tampa off the hook.
Overall a great experience and intend catching another game next year. Big difference was certainly the speed across the ice with control and the power of the players.
Incidentally there were quite a few Oilers fans there and having talked to a few they seemed to be relishing the Tampa shorts and t shirt weather which was a little different from the weather they had left in Canada lol.
I went to an NBA game during the week and watched the Magic against the Raptors and there were an incredible number of Toronto fans there ......probably something to do with their play off position, but still an incredible distance to travel. They went home winners though as they beat the Magic who yet again have had a poor season.
ps: looks like the Tampa wobble of the previous week has been forgotten this week with not only a win against the Oil but then coming back to beat the Maple Leafs having been 3 down and then squeaking passed the Islanders.

Yeah. I thought we were unlucky not to get something from the game too N.H. We really had enough good quality chances to win two games and as you say their goalie played a blinder plus we had a bunch of guys that would not have scored in a brothel that night. The Oil went up the road to Carolina(I think) the next night and won then thumped Ottawa last night. Can’t win em all as they say. They really are playing extremely well at the moment due to the fact all the pressure of making the playoffs has been lifted. The only thing they are playing for now is personal pride, also a chance for McDavid to take the scoring title(only one point behind the Tampa guy now after a four point night last night) and also some guys will be trying to show enough to warrant a contract offer next year too. I have been to Orlando / Tampa a number of times and it is one of my favourite destinations. St Petes Beach is a particular favourite of mine. The beach there is miles long, pure white sand and every time we have been there it is faily well deserted too. I like the Gulf side as the water is much calmer in my experience. On the Atlantic side the waves are always crashing in on the beach whereas the Gulf waves just lap the shore. At least that has been my experience everytime we have been there. Enjoy the rest of your holiday

As I predicted Edinburgh Capitals "ice time" has run out and they have lost their place in the elite league and their rights at Murrayfield. Tony Hands family are trying to bring back the "Racers" name and have applied to the League to be part of it next season. Time will tell if they are successful so we may still to be able to watch British elite hockey in Edinburgh........fingers crossed. Oh and well done to Tampa Lightning in eliminating the Devils in the first round of the play offs ( 4:1) ........fancy having to play up to 6 games to determine a play off result. If you go all the way to the final it must cost the fans more post season than during normal time.

If you go all the way to the final it must cost the fans more post season than during normal time. Not sure if you get much coverage of it N.H. But the World Hockey Championships start on May 4. It is held in Europe so time zone wise it should be friendly for you. Typically the so called “big” teams (Canada, Russia , Sweden etc) do not have all of their best players available due to the Stanley Cup being contested on this side of the pond at the moment. Canada does have Connor McDavid though as the Oilers failed in their playoff bid. If you get a chance you may get to see him tear up the lower quality opposition they will be up against. It is never a given that one of the big teams will win this Championship because none of them have all their best player but the hocke6 should still be of excellent quality.

Elite League drops to 9 clubs so Hands Murrayfield Racers are not allowed to join.........Edinburgh therefore has no professional ice hockey now......sad days.
