I thought Bartley was lucky to not get sent off. Two or three heavy fouls aftervhecwasvbooked What about Walker if you want to be selective booked and ref went to book him again and bottled it. There was some meaty challenges on both sides and a lot of hard but fair challenges. Let’s just say the ref has a howler both ways.

Looking at the highlights the only question is whether Shaw was in front of Boyle when the ball was played.......inconclusive from the film and the stills as you need to be level with play to be certain at the exact time the ball was initially played in. However if you look at the score for the game.....it finished 0:0 so it was not a goal.....end of. You win some and lose some as having seen the Ross highlights their second goal should have stood as I thought, so we gained 2 points on Saturday and had 2 ( possibly) denied us on Wednesday.......c'est la vie.

To be honest guys, I normally like Steve Mclean as a ref but he got a lot wrong on Wednesday. I do take into account my maroon tinted specs but thought that fouls we committed were not called others he did call I didn't think were fouls. I thought both Bartley for repeated fouls after his yellow and Stokes for the elbow (*which inexplicably, Mclean is looking right at) should have seen red probably Walker as well. Although to be fair to him it was a feisty encounter with a lot of niggles going on.

The EEN quotes Darren McGregor, "I spoke to the referee midway through the 2nd half and he said it was a poor decision and held his hand up and said we can't change it now"
That's probably the reason we didn't get a penalty late in the game.

I think you are right MTS. I often feel refs try to balance a wrong call they have made. Both of the penalty calls would have been harsh especially the Stevenson one as there was no danger and if left the ball was going to go out, but by the rules of the game should have been given. I suspect if the score had been 1:0 to us he would have pointed to the spot but having probably seen the Shaw "goal" at halftime felt he owed us one. As for all the discussions and stills on who should have been sent off etc .....FFS its a contact sport and having been brought up watching the likes of Norman Hunter, Chopper Harris et al it was actually fairly tame stuff. Both sides were having a bit of a go but that's what I like in a passionate local derby.

God it was offside.
And we should have had two penalties.

.......and you should be top of the league and in the knock out stages of the European Cup.... For the "goal" you need a still looking across the line of play at the split second Boyles foot touched the ball. Having said that the linesman missed the ball well over the line so hes not going to see a tight offside call at pace

How does Stokes get away with violent conduct on a weekly basis, the guy is a thug but he seems to be invisible on the park.
