You should know I'm not at the wind up here but just catching the highlights of the Hibs v Aberdeen game yesterday....it's like a ghost stadium, all 3 stands you can see on camera have rakes of empty seats. They cant all have been doing stuff at the Fringe surely?...looks awful

Technically course it was if the tickets have been sold, and maybe that's all the matters ?

As you know many seats are Season Ticket holders who haven't told the club they will not be going and so they cannot be re sold. In our case the worst culprits are in the Famous Five stand who buy a childs ticket with no intention of going just in case a big game occurs ( Cup Final etc) and so are guaranteed a ticket. The South stand ( away end) are basically people buying at the last minute / walk ups so would expect this to be sparse. Any spare tickets lower down in the East will be the last to go as the view won't be as good so these will show more on the TV. I looked at highlights from Tynecastle in December last year v Motherwell and there too are many, many empty seats ......however they don't tend to show up quite so much being maroon! According to our capacity there should have been around 1700 empty seats which seems reasonable bearing in mind Aberdeen bought close on 2000 and had over half of the South Stand. It seems that the only times that all the seats are possibly full is in the cat A games v the west coast bigots and the Edinburgh derbies. For most games when they announce a sell out I always know there will be empty seats where ST holders don't bother to go. Why they don't release the seats back to the club to re sell I don't know. It would generate more money for the club and more noise and support for the team. The club have made it easier to do so but some fans seem to think it is their seat and why should the club re sell it?

If u had looked on the Hibs ticket website, there were only 2 areas of the ground where tickets were available to buy from. 1 location on the Lower North Stand and the other one in the Lower South Stand. Don't forget too that people are still going on Holidays even if they bought ST's.

Don't think the Release system is in place for games unless it's the BIG guns coming.

I always inform the club when I cannot go. Sometimes they are resold independent of who is calling according to fellow fans we sit by. It only takes 2 minutes to inform them and I wish more would do so as Maroon points out it doesn't look good to have so many empty green seats. I would rather have the 3 home stands full and not have empty seats there and the one section of the away South stand with patchy ticket sales. There were seats available by us in the West and across in the East which are not ST holders so why weren't they on the ticket site?........down to the club I suppose trying to sell certain sections. I agree often the ticket website looks almost / sold out and fans get excited about it but I know there are going to be many empty seats especially in the famous five lower for reasons I explained earlier. Attendance should always be people through turnstiles and not including ST sales Attendance is "...the number of people present at an event..." not the number of tickets sold. Now how can we move the singing section.................. + Stop fans leaving early and then blocking the exits and other peoples views.......... If you want to leave early ffs go and don't hang around the exit to watch the game I went to the game on Saturday with a West Ham and Chelsea fan ( visiting from England) who couldn't understand why fans leave early when the game was "on a knife edge" as it was at the weekend. Incidentally they really enjoyed their first Scottish game for entertainment and when I brought home to them that either team could have been bought for a couple of months wages for one of their "stars" and have change. Like every sell out at Tiny over the last few years, if the tickets are sold how can you guarantee everyone turns up? I know there are issues in the FF lower as Newhaven has pointed out but it’s up to the club to check which tickets get activated regularly and those that don’t? Then when they’ve done that what are they supposed to do with ST holder who only go 50% of the time. Fringe is only a small % i would guess, some people may have to work some Saturdays or be on call but would still prefer to give the club the money. We are no worse that every other team in that respect inc Hearts.

I think Newhaven makes a good point. For some reason empty green seats standout more than empty MAROON ones.

Parkhead was the same yesterday as was Rugby Park ( home fans) on Saturday. I'm happy to call Tynecastle as well when we don't turn up
