Actually gegenpress would work perfectly at Tynie if you have the players who can apply it and if the opposition is not content parking the bus. Unfortunately most teams are content to defend the point they start out with and hope to nick a winner as St. Johnstone and others have managed

If we constantly hammer their defence and pull their players out of position we will win games easily. Off the ball movement is so important.
Far too often our players do not move off the ball. It’s all so predictable. You HAVE to move off the ball in order to pull players from the opposition out of their positions and then exploit that hole and go and score.
If our players can’t do that they are in the wrong profession. It’s basic football.

Its much easier to defend.

Gary Mackay having another pop, hard to argue though.
I already feel very sorry for Daniel Stendel - the poor man has walked into a circus and, for me, I have some fears that he may be having second thoughts on what he's let himself in for.
Daniel has had his own assistants at Barnsley who he clearly trusts, and trust is a big thing for any manager. He’s identified Andy Kirk to work with just now from within the multitude of people already in our football department, but I suspect he’ll feel he needs his own men in if he’s to have a proper chance of implementing the changes he feels are required.
People are saying it will all get better when we get some underperforming players out and get new ones in, but that won’t be easy. The likes of Olly Lee, Arnaud Djoum and Ryan Edwards will probably be feeling like they dodged a bullet in getting out in the summer. Will any players of substance, with the required quality and mentality, really want to come into Hearts in our present predicament?
However, I just hope he’s still here by the time he gets his own men in because the concern for me is that, having realised the size of the task he faces, doubts are creeping in. I don’t know enough about his character, but you could tell from the way he looked after Saturday’s game that he knows he’s got a hell of a lot of issues to batter through. It’s a concern when you hear a new manager say after his first game that it’s going to be a harder job than he initially thought. He will feel he needs new players and new assistants in to sort this mess out.
Right now we look a team at genuine threat of relegation. Several people, myself included, have been saying the Hearts players are better than they’ve been showing and that they should be far too good to go down if they are managed properly, but after Saturday’s game against St Johnstone, I think it’s now clear we are in deep trouble. In a really important game for both teams, St Johnstone were the only side that showed any real passion and aggression.
The fundamental concern for me is that unless we cleanse the football department properly, there will still be a hangover from the previous regime. People will say I’m talking nonsense and making something out of nothing by harking back to Craig Levein still being in the background, but I can guarantee you the Hearts players will be wondering what is going on. Every player in that dressing-room will have been at a club where the manager has moved on and when that happens there is always a cleansing of the staff and a new group of staff members walk in to freshen things up.
We must be the first club in history where all the staff members from a failed regime continue to be about the club having an influence. That simply isn’t right, and it will create a negative mood in the background that is likely to prevent Daniel Stendel being able to enjoy a proper fresh start.
I was really disappointed that he didn’t get a win in his first game on Saturday but given the litany of issues that remain at this football club, I wasn’t particularly surprised.

he calls himself a jambo but to be honest he isn't doing the cause any favours right now. I don't necessarily disagree with him. But when you have problems you first need to understand exactly what the problem is then come up with VIABLE solutions. constantly having a pop doesnt help.
we all need to get right behind the cause now. Any doubts in my mind about us being in a struggle were dispelled on Saturday but negativity isn't going to get us out of it. we need to get right behind the team and make some noise. I know the team are not deserving of it but they are what we have. in a few years they will mostly be gone but we will still be there. we have a part to play in turning this round. constant whingeing and bitching isn't it.

I disagree that he's whining about it. I think Mackay covers how the rest of us are feeling. More sad than angry at the moment. Anger is fleeting but it's a sadness at realising how bad we really are. I think most were expecting a bounce on Saturday and to not get one really hit hard

There’s not one word of untruth in that piece, I’m not his greatest fan but he is spot on here, how the fuck a sacked manager and his coaches are still there is way beyond belief

I think we've fuck up here! We got what we wanted and not what we need. We want a fast attacking free flowing team with a solid back line and we got a manager that can provide that, unfortunately with this shower of shit on his training ground it's never going to happen.
What we needed was a Jim Jefferies! Someone to grab them by the throat and demand better! We need 11 men to win their battle on the field and do their job! We have no creative players so winning ugly is our only hope.
I think Daniel has been appointed 1 manager to soon. I can't see him turning this around. I feel we need someone to dish out tough love in that dressing room right now.
I would take going down btw if it means we get levein and budge out forever.

I was today thinking that perhaps we needed someone until the end of the season such as Warnock. I hope he can turn it around. Next month is pivotal.

It's not fair on DS to judge him on 4 games but there were times today when he looked out of his depth. His mannerisms would worry me a lot and the thing that most surprises me is that the Tarts have had no real "Bounce" from bringing in a new man. That's what usually happens. No sign of it so far and the Sheep arriving on Sunday.

With Walker and Whelan not in the lineup due possibly for falling out with Stendel I think he may have been delivering the tough love message that is needed. Getting the players to buy in is another matter. It is time for a clearout. We need players that will bleed for the cause and the shirt. Not a bunch of overpaid mercenaries like we have now.
