I dont share the same sense of outrage as many others about the Everton penalty v Palace at the weekend. Reading the comments of Roy Hodgson and others I thought it must have been the biggest blunder in the history of the game but having now seen the incident, I can understand why it was given (hand away from the body, distance between the defender and the ball player, ball did not reach the intended recipient). Harsh, yes, but far from the 'we might as well pack in playing' scenario painted in the media.
Anyone have any views on this?

Not as bad as Newcastle’s equaliser in the 92nd minute Ball hits Dier on the back of his arm when he’s looking in the other direction.

Just did a search for a video. Must say, I think it was a bit harsh too. Not sure on the new rules but that probably , mibbee, might not have been a penalty a couple of years ago. The ball came at him pretty quick but he did seem to move his arm away from his body and block the ball.

Dier pen harsh yes but clear and obviously stuck his hand although he hadn’t a clue where it was, the position off his arm tells me VAR correct , not seen the other one
