Are the 12 about to sell football down the swanny?
Arsenal Liverpool Man Utd Man C Chelsea Spurs Juventus Inter Milan AC Milan Real Madrid Barcelona Athletico Madrid
Ready to sign up a breakaway league
Clubs potentially banned from UEFA competitions and players banned from international teams, looks like the greed of the owners could be tested to stop their franchise football taking off
We await the outcome

I don't watch Champions League and I'm not going to watch this new competition either. I think we've all been longing for a European League and it's seen as inevitable by many so maybe this is it starting - but starting from the top rather than the bottom?
It automatically devalues the EPL and therefore every other league and will sound the death knell for many national leagues. Hearts, Hibs etc joining the 3rd or 4th Division, the Uglies joining the second division or something like that?

The problem is these founder members canโt be relegated whatโs the point!
Smacks of a US style sports model like NBA NFL MLB etc where itโs franchised sport, they donโt give a fuck about fans, traditions and community if they get a better offer they will play games all over the world.
Yes change is needed but this is the wrong horse to back.

This won't happen. Its merely the opening gambit towards inevitable change. Some form of European league set up will happen over the next few years. Lets not forget that, while I agree these owners are in it for pure greed, the game of football worldwide is choc full of corruption and the powers that be will resist any change to their fiefdom.
Change is required just maybe not this way.

I think change is needed the other way, a more level playing field for all, not a closed shop.
I see Doncaster is getting his knickers in a twist too, no doubt he will use it as a reason to change the voting structure further in favour of the uglies. Interesting he has something to say now, while he keeps quiet evry summer when the uglies talk about moving to a different league.
There is no way this can be allowed to happen. It is predicated on the money which currently goes to the individual leagues instead being split with more going to the midweek league and less to the domestic leagues, which they would still want a slice of.
Its crazy to think that lack of money is the problem, it is lack of competition, lack of seeing different clubs at the top which is killing football.

Looks like it was all a red herring to eventually get what they want. Euro league.

Looks like it was all a red herring to eventually get what they want. Euro league. Change was happening anyway wether or not it suited them before is questionable but you can bet it will be more attractive now. My feelings on the saga are that the biggest losers will be the Spanish big two, debts of hundreds of millions banking on success, with the teams ageing they are lucky enough if they hold any power going forward as they canโt meet transfer fees without selling. The English clubs will get by but the owners will be targeted to sell.

Just throwing it out there. The rich owners or whoever was funding this could do a Kerry Packer and start a brand new franchise offering top dollar to players.
