Was watching my Oilers last night and simultaneously Mexico and Canada were playing in the Concacaf World Cup qualifications at Azteca Stadium. So during commercial breaks in the hockey I flipped over to the football. At one point the Mexicans had just been awarder a corner. Suddenly the ref gathered all the players and directed them to the centre of the park. The commentators ( I assume they were calling the game from a studio in Toronto) started belittling the Mexican fans for making homophobic chants. Not being a speaker of much Spanish I was unaware of that going on. Have any of you seen a ref do this before? Is this a new recommendation from FIFA? Just wondering if this is the beginning of something new.

Not seen or heard of it before BB Yeah they all collected in midfield in protest. Mexico had been assesed a twomatch penalty(no fans in attendance) for the same thing recently. It was reduced to one game so the game with Canada had fans allowed. Wonder if they will get a bunch more empty stadium penalties after this.
