Was texting a friend last night. He happens to live in another Province from me so don’t get to see him that often. During discussions about hockey in general he let it slip that his 12 year old son has an agent😳. His boy is somewhat of a phenom when it comes to hockey, but, Jesus H Christ! 12 years old? Was wondering if the pond scum who call themselves agents, are getting their claws into young football players over there and if they are as young as that? Possibly even younger maybe?

Quite a lot of youngsters here have agents BB. It's sad in a way but they would probably be exploited if they didn't. Its a case of heads you lose and its a two headed coin

Its a case of heads you lose and its a two headed coin Someone would need to explain the need for an agent for someone under18. Under 18 is legally a child (here anyway) and even if they sign a contract they cannot be held to it. Also are not allowed to sign a pro contract before that age either. At that time an agent would be involved. I suppose you would need one in your back pocket well before the kid turns pro just for guidance but at 12 years old??? Next time I actually speak to my friend I will grill him on it. He is fairly well connected in the pro hockey world so I assume this is normal if your kid is a bit of a phenom.
