Cammy and Cumdog have contrasting fortunes when it comes to obtaining World Cup mementos:

Cameron Devlin has revealed how he landed a historic shirt from Lionel Messi’s 1000th game despite being a substitute for Australia against Argentina.
WHAT HAPPENED? The Socceroos lined up against the Albiceleste and their talismanic captain in the last-16 of the 2022 World Cup, with Messi and Co proving to be too strong on the day as they made their way into the quarter-finals on the back of a 2-1 win. That contest was a historic one for seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi, as he reached another notable landmark, but it was Devlin who walked away with a prized memento despite failing to take to the field.
WHAT THEY SAID: The Hearts midfielder has told FOX Sports on how he managed to swap shirts with an all-time great: “I went on [the pitch] and consoled all the boys first and then shook Messi’s hand. No one had said anything so I just tried my luck and he said, ‘I’ll see you inside,’ and that’s what happened. I definitely wanted one of the other boys to have the opportunity first, but no one took it, so I thought why not?”
Devlin added on passing his own jersey to an iconic figure: “I don’t know if it will be on his wall at home or maybe still on the ground in that changing room but I’m not fussed — it’s more that I got his. I was surprised he even took mine. He definitely wouldn’t know who I am, but he’s a nice enough bloke and a humble enough bloke to still show that respect, and that’s obviously super nice, but I wasn’t too worried about what my jersey was doing at that stage.”
Cumming's Story
Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud both refused to swap shirts with Australia forward Jason Cummings at the World Cup.
Cummings, who earned his second cap for Socceroos as he came off the bench during their group stage opener against France, was deperate for a memento to remind him of the moment but has revealed how he was knocked back by the French pair.
After Australia’s 4-1 defeat, Cummings said he first went for the “top boy”.
He told The Project (via GOAL): “After the France game, I actually tried to get Mbappe – forget Giroud, I went for the top boy Mbappe – and he told me to meet him in the changing rooms. So I went to the changing room and the kit man was there and I gave him my top and 10 minutes later he came out with my jersey and says: ‘Nah, absolutely not, he [Mbappe] doesn’t want to swap’.
“So when I was walking back to my changing room and I’ve seen Giroud and I’m walking, as handsome as ever, and I asked him, ‘Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt man? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?’ And he just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English! And he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years! He just walked right past me!”
Scottish-born Cummings took to Instagram to wish Lionel Messi good luck ahead of Argentina’s final against the French.
He wrote: ‘Do the basics right Leo. Don’t play the occasion, play the game. All the best, Cumdog.’
Cumdog added: “I think I deserve a lot of credit (for Messi’s World Cup showing) – he’s definitely checked his phone just before, he’s seen the Cumdog pop up on his Instagram there.
“He’s checked that and it just gave him that extra motivation.”
I think Cummings' ambition is to join Jedward...
