Tom Rogic is available on a free end could be exactly what we are looking for in midfield. I thought he was older but only 30. I’d be trying to pull out all the stops available to sign Rogic in a heartbeat. Exactly the type of player we are screaming out for. Cmon Hearts, show some fucking ambition and at least talk to the guy to see if he’s interested.

According to one of the sites which claims to know players salaries (not idea how accurate they are), Rogic was on £7k, our top earner is stated as Gordon on £4.5k, so given he has been released, it may not be too far away. Although budget has probably been spent and we now need to look for another right back/centre back.

Can someone please fucking ask who's wife grant has slept with to be so far down the pecking order? I despair when we play people out of position instead of playing players who actually know the position It is a mystery but would Grant make a difference? He hasn't exactly been a major contributor in the games he's played. Halliday similar but he at least has put in a few big performances from time to time but really I don't think we'd miss them if they moved on.

Current Squad as of 26 August 2023
Goalkeepers - Craig Gordon - 2024 *** coming back from injury, not sure if he’ll get back to his best. - Zander Clark - 2025 Doing ok, prone to making errors though. - Harry Stone - 2024 On loan to QotS until January, not getting a game. - Michael McGovern 2024, Not seen him play yet but probably a good back up.
Right Backs - Nathaniel Atkinson - 2025 Good player but made of glass and injured
Centre Backs - Kye Rowles - 2027 Ball playing centre back but far too easily bullied. May play at LB when Halkett returns. - Frankie Kent - 2026 Probably our best signing. - Toby Sibbick - 2025 Having a nightmare season. - Lewis Neilson - 2025 On loan to Partick until the end of the season, doing well and playing every week. - Craig Halkett - 2024 *** coming back from injury and we miss him badly. - Odel Offiah - 2024 season long loan. Not getting a game but doesn’t look good enough.
Left Backs - Alex Cochrane - 2025 Having a poor season with a few injuries. - Stephen Kingsley - 2025 Good player but another made of glass.
Centre Midfielders - Jorge Grant - 2025 Can’t seem to get in the starting line up. Not good enough though. - Finlay Pollock - 2025 Injured - Beni Baningime - 2024 Not back to his best after serious injury. Think he’ll leave in the summer. - Cammy Devlin - 2025 Our best CM but needs help. - Peter Haring - 2024 I like Big Pete but his days at the club are numbered. - Andy Halliday - 2024 Can’t get a game, will leave in the summer or maybe January. - Connor Smith - 2024 On loan to Scunthorpe. Doing well, playing every week but not at a good level. - Calem Nieuwenhof 2027 Might come good but looked out of his depth against Celtic. - Aiden Denholm 2026. Not played much since his mistake at Dundee. Looks to have no pace though.
Wide Midfielders - Yutaro Oda - 2026 Good player but made of glass - Barrie McKay - 2025 Injured - Alan Forrest - 2024 Does ok and works hard but not got the pace of his brother. - Alex Lowry - 2024 Loan, Blows hot and cold but needs to up his game. - Macaulay Tait - 2025 Never seen him play yet
Forwards - Lawrence Shankland - 2025 Goalscorer but being played out of position. - Liam Boyce - 2024 Coming back from injury and looking good but not ready for 90 mins yet. - Kyosuke Tagawa - 2027 Not seen anything special yet but I’ll give him time. - Kenneth Vargas - 2024 Loan with option to buy. Plenty pace and skill but playing in a bad team.
13 players out of contract at the end of the season. How many of our players could we sell for decent money?

I read that Savage says we don’t scout the Scottish Championship or League 1 as we’re in trouble if that’s the level we’re looking at to improve Hearts.
What about Craig Levein, Andy Webster, Neil McCann, Jim Hamilton, Colin Cameron to name a few.

The market we seem to deal in is players with a point to prove, players coming back from injuries or players that need time to settle in to the country and the league, none of those bode well for consistent performances, as supporters you expect players to be signed that improve the team and not to have to wait around for them to find their feet, we are fickle but with some justification.

To be fair that is 5 examples and all from a long time ago, We have also signed the likes of Wighton, Callachan, Bikey and many others in the more recent past! Im not saying dont count there, but given the academy setups of the premier teams there are less and less gems to be found.

Agreed Dolf although we turned down the chance to sign Shankland and paid money for Wighton. Hopefully our B Team might produce a couple of gems for us. Ayr United have a couple of young players that might make the step up so we can’t dismiss the lower divisions in Scotland.

I read this morning that Hearts watched Yan Dhanda in a bounce game when he played for Swansea before deciding he was not good enough and we signed Jorge Grant instead. Meanwhile Ross County signed him probably on half the wages Grant is on. Massive mistake by our scouting staff if true.
