That course looks fecking AWFUL on HD telly. I can barely bring myself to watch it, such is the eyesore (not the course layout; the patches of mottled green and brown and the discolouring of the greens). FFS, if it looks as bad in real life as it does on the telly (and Sergio says it does!) the no wonder Tiger woods shot 10 over par in round 1 - he must have felt like vomiting all the way around. WTF is that all about, eh?

Is that the open in Washington state? Just caught a glimpse and the rough looks like back home rough where you could break a wrist if your ball goes in there

It's Braids No.2 for sure.

Used to enjoy the Braids when I lived in Dreghorn. Only played No2 once when it was really foggy - had no idea where I was going. When the fog lifted there were balls lying all over the fairways and bunkers, 'lost' by eejits like me.

Testing course and conditions, makes a change for the U.S. Not to use manicured manufactured greens, nice to see the top pros have to battle like the Sunday morning hackers!
Tiger has lost it, needs to remould his swing completely, was impressed by Monty round 1 but his 2nd went from bad to worse, and no disgrace in round 3 but +7 is a long way back!
Dustin Johnston for me is playing superb, but don't write off Speith or Reed.

It was difficult or more likely preferred not to have kids on that course so we played the Braids often. Apart from sledging there every winter I enjoyed playing golf on No 1 and 2. Always came away with more golf balls than when I arrived. Digging in the whins for Dunlop or penfolds. Fun times.

I think the tv guys have toned down the filter and it looked beautiful yesterday although someone said it was like putting on broccoli. 4 tied at the top including Justin Day. Hope he doesn't have vertigo at the top of the leaderboard! Louis van Oost is the guy making the birdies tho...

Heart - there's a par 3 on Braids 1 straight up the hill with a green like glass. It was not unusual to play a shot up to the green and when the next guy was teeing off you would see your ball coming straight back down the hill and past the tee box! Also any putt above the hole could end up back at the tee box if you missed the putt. Scary hole. Loved the course - great design and stunning on Summer evenings.
