Was looking at some cookers the other day (don't ask) and was surprised to see that even the latest models only have 9 as the highest gas Mark. Now, I'm no Masterchef, but even I know Gas Mark 9 has been available since Sevco started issuing EBTs or even earlier. My mobile phone is no longer the size of a suitcase, my computer is no longer the size of a building and I don't have to have a wee man with a red flag walking in front of my car - so why do we still have to put up with a paltry Gas Mark 9? Is it because they would have to rewrite all the recipe books? Am I the only one who wants a cooker with Gas Mark 20.

Just musings BT, whilst waiting for the Hearts soccer team to dazzle us before the rugger types from the Southern Hemisphere win the 2 big games tonight. What does a Belgian cooker go up to, btw?

Get an indelible ink pen and write a 1 in front of all the existing numbers. Sorted! Extra hot gas on tap. Spinal Tap.

I got this sorted at the weekend. A mate got me some Army surplus compasses and I simply replaced the dials on the cooker with those from the compasses. Now I get 360 degrees, even on the wee ones at the front.

I make a good curry, drj. Not too hot, mind you... Only gas Mark 9 hot? Btw, if I stick my oven up to gas Mark 9 I heat my whole street and the neighbours kids go paddling...in December...in Aberdoom. You can't hear their squeals of delight above the whirring noise of the gas meter going so fast it nearly tilts the earth of it's axis tho'.
