That was one mean and nastily played game today . Some of the tackles towards the end were quite tasty. In the last 15 mins or so 3 or 4 guy's should have seen reds IMO. Nice of Chelsea to do Leicester a favour though. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for proving you don't need some minted oil baron or Russian oligark in order to succeed. Maybe the madness will stop now?

If Leicester can do it................

Congrats to Leicester and their approach to the game has been fantastic but everything fell in their favour (weak Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal all changing managers or screaming for change) and that probably won't happen again. They still had to do it of course - why didn't Spurs or West Ham or Southampton do what Leicester did - so hats off to them. The BBC reports that a Leicester team costing 'only 80 Million' managed to upset the odds. Well, 80 Million is a hell of a lot of money to spend on football players and, whilst the title win is still a huge surprise, they wouldnt have done it without a billionaire foreign owner. That takes a little of the shine off it for me, in the same way I have only grudging respect for the achievements of Chelski and Man City. I think many fans are just pleased that all of the really obscene big spenders fell flat on their faces (let's all laugh at Chelski etc). I'm pleased for Raneiri who seems a genuinely nice guy. I wonder what he would have done at Hearts if Vlad had given him 80 Million?

The good thing about this title race was the lack of mind games. Two genuinely respectful managers going about their business.

It's worth noting that although everyone says their win is down to the poor performance of the other teams. Leicester with their current points total would have finished above everyone but Chelsea last season.

Yeah but if they had lost to a strong Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc, they would be mid table at best. It's a combination of ALL of those teams having terrible seasons and them being in a position to take advantage. Hats off to Leicester but, at the end of the day, they won the league because they outlasted Spurs. Spurs have never been top 4 in 20+ years of the EPL. These circumstances will not be repeated. Either Leicester move into Man City and Chelski expenditure territory (and compete for a top 4 place next year) or they move back into mid table. It will be interesting to see how the owners and fans move on from here. I've not seen the bookies odds for next season, Leicester won't be 5000 to 1 but (unless they spend many many millions) I doubt they will be listed in the top 5.

Apparently, because of Leicester, no bookie will give odds in excess of 1000-1 on team to win league. I'm intrigued to know what odds onLeicester being relegated. Next season.

5,000-1 on being relegated. Tbh, teams with odds of 5,000-1 to win a league probably shouldn't be in that fecking league. What's the odds on Hibs winning the Big Cup btw? It would have been 5,000-1 at the start of the season. Probably.

I accept the gist of what you say K19 but outside the uglies who is going to win the SP and outside the usual top 5/6 who would have expected someone else to win.

It's amazing marketing but complete shit that a league with teams like Bournemouth, Burnley, Brighton, Stoke, Swansea, West Brom, Watford etc has a 5 Billion pounds contract and the SPFL gets 2 Million a year. Leicester reckon this year will make them 175 Million. That's 80 years earnings for the SPFL winners and around 200 years' winnings for Hearts - assuming we finish top 6 for the next 200 years. Even the team that finishes bottom of the EPL gets 75 Million plus 50 Million parachute payment. It's hard for me to get too upbeat about the future of football when Doncaster is selling the league rights for 2 Million and drawing 250k salary. Didn't I read the other day that Norway gets 180 Million a year from tv rights? That's 90 times more than Scotland, FFS. A bit off topic I know but pisses me off that Leicester can work hard and win the jackpot whilst we are doomed to picking up scraps as we go along.
