Without doubt our recruitment has been poor to say the least and that came home to roost last night, but maybe once the stand is done and dusted the budget will allow us more scope - not using that as an excuse Fred.

Hibs have done there homework well in the likes of McGeough,Mcginn ETC we have been a disgrace in the transfer market in comparison and it has fuck all to do with building a new stand how many players have been through our doors the last 3 windows?? I totally agree. The money we spent on duds is embarrassing. The likes of Stockton and Grizzly are on more money than the Louis Moults of this world. Hibs, like Aberdeen have recruited well pound for pound while we have barely signed any quality in the last 20 or so recruits over the past 3 years. I hear that Michael Smith is on nearly double what his predecessor Struna was on with no noticeable improvement. If true, and its only hearsay at this point, then that is scandalous.

Thought we deserved it but was waiting in the last 10 minutes for Hearts to poach the equaliser.........and Hearts almost did. Why do we make it so hard for ourselves in creating a lot of chances but failing to take any more. Why can't we break at pace........at times in the second half we had chances to break but only got one or two supporting players forward quickly , Hearts broke quickly at one point mid 2nd half and had 5 players forward to our 3 defenders......fortunately the through ball was poor and Ambrose made the tackle.......and promptly dallied on the ball and lost it again. Are we fit enough? GGTTH Sorry but that bit of play was defended by Bartley and happened because of a slack pass from Ambrose towards Stevenson intercepted by a Hearts player from our corner. Still alls well that ends well, 8 in a row and no sign yet of them getting close to us, we are now superior and have the mental edge that we lacked years ago, they now appear to have that monkey on their backs. Quite correct dav........must have been drunk! On a different note.......its great to see Dylan Mc back playing 90 minutes and not then being injured for the next few games. Thought he was excellent last night along with your man Bartley. GGTTH

Although they were better everywhere, the game was won and lost in central midfield, their dominance in there allowed them to dominate elsewhere. Our central 3 might as well have stayed at home for all the good they did. At least Gzerlak tried, Callaghan and Randall were absent and did nothing.
APART from Souttar selling the JERSEY at their goal we defended ok and although winning a derby is in itself enough, they should be concerned at not being able turn that dominance into goals.
Plusses for us, very few. It wasn't the capitulation of last time. We defended ok most of the time.
Bottom line although I hate losing derbies, we narrowly lost to a close rival away from home. That's a fact. Not the end of the world. Does it make me feel better. NO.

We are a total gang right Cowie granted would have made a wee difference but Djoum?? he has been an imposter since he returend from the African nations and he should be checked to see he isn't a twin,so even with those two playing I still think we'd have lost, our squad is shite and it has been for quite sometime.

You are correct drj.......for all our neat football by the wide men and the midfield running the show we cannot convert it into goals. This found us with a nervous time as you came forward towards the end and there was one occasion where the ball was free rolling across the goalmouth 4 yards out where with a slight Hearts touch it could have been 1:1. So for all our dominance it was a narrow victory and not the end of the World.

GGTTH Interesting you have those views, Dav; if it's any consolation to you I think you DID break at pace and your team showed great fitness and great work ethic throughout the entire game - certainly compared to us! Even the one real chance we had with Isma was blocked by a last brave diving challenge when at least two Hobos threw themselves in front of the ball. If Hibs play like that every week they'll have nothing to worry about.

Only two positives from the game are we only lost 1-0 and the goalie even though he should've done better with the goal.

Disappointed at our approach to the game, sure Cowie might have made a difference but he is 34,Gzelak was bought as left back was he not,yet he goes into midfield,Brandon is a midfielder yet gets played at full back, thought Henderson was a forward yet we play him in midfield,Smith then a right back gets punted to left back. Randall not up to it ,Lafferty was mince and I believe will be cited and miss the cream buns game ,still believe if Cochrane had started he would not have lasted ,he got something but how long before we start going on about burn out. Agree with most our transfer dealing have been average in comparison to the Hobos, sheep, hell even Murderwell and st farmers, why do these guys attract players that we should be able to compete for. Berra and Lafferty apart ,and they both need to up their games,we need to be better in our dealings. We are to slow at passing, but talk of a lack of pace in the side is rubbish ,Milanovic,Walker,Henderson,Brandon all have pace but we don't play wide on the wings any more, surely Lafferty and Isma would feed off wingers getting to byeline and crossing,we don't do this anymore and that's how we got done last night, several times on Sat and fully expect this to continue on Saturday coming. In short round pegs in square holes,no wingers and lack of self belief and very very average players.

If Hibs play like that every week they'll have nothing to worry about. Not dav, K19 ......he'll have his green tinted specs on for the next few days.......wait till we hear from catman . What I was saying with the breaks at pace is often we have Boyle and Barker flying down the wing ( yes with pace) and when they come to look up they may have only one other player in the opposition half. A couple of instances last night saw us with great breaks on but it all came to nothing as there were no other players within 50 yards to support. When you watch great sides counter, the number of support players give good options at the business end. This is why I mentioned the Hearts counter (not saying they are a great side ) where there were 5 players up with the break and but for a final ball we may now be looking at a 1:1 scoreline.......but the options were at least there. One of the best times to counter is from an opposition corner. ( Hearts counter that I mentioned came after a Hibs corner) If you watch us defend them, we often don't have anybody to pick up the first cleared ball to set up the counter. At times all that happens it allows the opposition to pick the ball back up and put us back under pressure.

Newhaven the problem is that BnB are that quick that our midfield struggle to keep up with them on the counter attack from set plays whilst helping out the defenders, it was noticeable that during the 2nd half when Hearts won a corner we started pushing the front 3 up to halfway with 1 midfielder pushed out the box causing them to change strategy by forcing 3 or more back out the box to cover the quick breakaways giving the keeper and defenders more room to clear there lines.

Should really have won by more, midfield and flanks ripped a non existent midfield and slow defence to shreds. K19 as for Lafferty he looked saw and smashed his forearm into Efe, but Dallas brought the play back to an earlier foul for Hearts. Cochrane lucky to only get a yellow. No2, no sure who he was on a yellow took out Boyle 2nd half could have been 2nd yellow but Isma got the card and nearly also got a 2nd yellow. Walker after getting final warning continued to foul away. Now I'm not saying we were victims as our team stood up and gave out a few hefty challenges as well, but had Dallas done his job properly to protect the ball players in the first half then he wouldn't have lost control in the second half. Anyway I'm away to bed to be ready to enjoy work in a few hours time. Last time I played footy you needed shots on target to score goals, so by that lodgic you should of score one more you mean.😉 two shots on target!✌😉
