To be fair he has a better strike rate than Lafferty over his career. Not saying he is a better player but he has scored goals reasonably regularly. Although a chunk of them were lower league in England.

We should be aiming to sign the likes of Moult etc. Proven players at our level or good League 1 players.
This constant freebie game is just going to lead to more and more mediocrity. If we want to win the league/finish 2nd/win cups/get into Europe, we need to spend money on good players (spend money on wages if they are free, i.e. Naismith). Yes we do it in part but not enough.
The more successful we are, the more money we will get. It is a worthwhile investment.

On the topic of Moult, before he went to Motherwell, if I heard we were signing him I would be going nuts at how rubbish he is going by his stats. Who knows!!
If he signs, I'll back him but I'd like more firepower up front: 20+, good record, hungry, fast, one-touch football, passion.
Why can't we scout Latin America etc? I'm sure we'd find a gem or two and sell them for mega bucks after they elevate our league position.

This guy as far as I can see is being brought in to mentor the kids, he may play the odd game but it is more for what he can bring to Riccarton

Surely as an ex striker that’s Daly’s job as coach to mentor the kids??

I'd rather have Christian Nade.

Do we not still have sammon on the books? Signing Steven McLean and letting sammon go seems a bit redundant.

I had a look at the St Johnstone Forum and it looks like they don’t want him to leave, one guy posted -
We'll struggle to replace his intelligence up front, and he's our best finisher.

Templeton looked Hamilton's most dangerous player when they played us at Tynecastle, still a bit injury prone though but it won't help playing on that pitch.
