Are we expecting games to be affected in Scotland / UK ?
Really annoying the hysteria, panic buying etc, when 600,000 people a year die of flu’s and in the main it’s older people with under lying health issues.
But 6 nation matches off, games in Italy behind closed doors and now being postponed, Champions league travel restrictions.
Have the authorities gone to far? Are the authorities being sensible? When and what are the implications to SPFL and Scottish Cup matches?

Cheltenham Races to go ahead with crowds of normally around 250k over the week, the government can’t be too worried.

Certainly not yet mate but the news hype and panic buying are likely to have people on red alert if the issue continues to grow as it appears.
Me, I’d like us to just get on with normality rather than hiding away, but I appreciate that’s not everyone’s view and some catagories of people are more vulnerable and at risk than others but i don’t want to stop living and enjoying myself.

Was minding my grand kids last night and they are amusingly unamused by the rules imposed in their classroom. Hourly hand washes, not allowed to bring their own writing implements to school, they each have a pencil provided by the school that they are not allowed to share. They are not allowed to take school books and jotters home and the girls have been told to stop hugging each other.

I think it's like so many things Dav. We come from an era of risk takers. Our kids generation are so safety driven, nothing is left to chance, everything is tested to the nth degree they take chances on nothing.
I suspect my grandkids era will take it back the other way.
My grand daughter was asking why her football team were not allowed to shake hands with oppo team but it was ok to hug each other when they scored a goal. Her response? Grandad they've gone nuts.

Reading some of the comments from people that have had this virus I’ll be extremely happy if I steer clear of it.

Does anyone know yet why Italy has been hit so hard?

Does anyone know yet why Italy has been hit so hard? They had flashbacks to the 1940s (ref: MTS post above) and just surrendered early to save time.

To be honest, I'm content for now by being led by those that know what they are talking about. Unfortunately some people in positions of authority panic and dont follow the advice and expertise of the boffins who do understand.

Rumour if games get postponed and time runs out positions stand and therefore next games be huge for Hearts especially the St Mirren game.

Interesting point Dav. Some countries are already postponing fixtures and/or playing behind closed doors.
So if they decide to postpone games, how does it all pan out? Not just at our end of table but everywhere. League winners? Do Celtic get their 9th or does the season get scrubbed? No doubt what der hun would advocate. Europa League qualification? Obviously the biggy for Hearts fans is how they determine promotion and relegation.
Playing games behind closed doors maybe an option but will be very costly to some teams.
Do we just write off the Scottish cup this year?
Anyone have thoughts or ideas on it?

I think the next 2-3 weeks could get interesting going by what’s happened in Italy. Other countries are now going behind close doors, which is the first step before shut down I’d imagine.
I hear the Scottish and English associations (probably the Welsh and Irish as well) are in contact trying to work contingency plans but who knows.
Also the Nottingham Forrest chairman has apparently contracted it and the whole club are now being tested along with the board at Millwall as they were in contact with them on Friday night! One things for sure I’m expecting things to get worse before they get better, and yes at the start things were a bit of a laugh, now it’s getting closer to home you do start thinking about what if it affects our daily lives inc watching football.
Could the semis be played behind closed doors? That would be a disaster for the game in my opinion, but a complete shut down would be worse.
