Not to be sniffed at that money. Hopefully we start to improve the squad

It’s a decent amount of money, similar to finishing in third place and what European football brings.

I wonder what Brighton thinks of the Wee Team going behind their backs and arranging this?

Brighton deal although fine quickly became a non starter and ended.
HFC rightly questioning why they were mentioned.

This will be interesting to see how it plays outs the way they are talking the model is to have a bunch of clubs working together, the problem for Hibs is they are the bottom rung of that and will get sent players with potential but probably not tested. So may well get a load of Connor Randall’s and Demi Mitchell’s.
It wouldnt bother me as much if the tie up was with a properly big club, but Hibs being a feeder team to a club with a stadium and support the same size as St Johnstone just seems wrong to me.

Don't think now in the EPL the size of stadium and support is that important Dolf. If you are in that League and do relatively well, as they are doing, the vast amount of money on offer is the most important thing and therefore the quality of player you can attract. St Johnstones income would stay relatively low whether they were doing well in the League and won 2 cups in one season! ( I've just looked at Bournemouths transfer record this season and they have so far spent around 130 million with only 2 million being taken back in for player departures. Add the wage bill on top and one can begin to see the amount of money on offer to clubs even though they have a small infrastructure) Problem with the EPL it's a big ledge to fall off financially when things go against you and a club the size of Bournemouth may well struggle to recover once the relegation parachute payment has been spent. You are quite correct with the type of player Hibs would be offered. Clubs get these untried youngsters and fans are always hoping a gem is uncovered..........but in my experience very rarely do. I think I read Hibs are getting an untried defender from Leeds ?

There was also an interview Foley did where he stated Bournemouth are in for a young South American guy and immediately want him on loan at Auckland, Hibs or L’orient which tells me our deal is close to happening with the Black Knights Group and we will be used to get these guys up to speed on the British style games and EPL ready. Good if it works with talent but has that untried / untested feel that could go wrong.

I get that the EPL is massive and even a small team effectvely win the lottery by getting in. But it is all built on sand if there is no core support, if and when they get relegated as you say they are in deep trouble I just think it makes Scottish football look even more tin pot, when the tinniest pot in the EPL has one of our biggest teams (top 5 really) as a feeder, not just a rung below, but below 2 others in a wierd pyramid. In terms of youngsters, they will hoover up dozens of them as a risk worth taking, lob them up to Edinburgh, or Aukland, and see if they are any good. If not, who cares, move on. That cant be good for Hibs long term. The only thing that might help if that they may well want them in at least a competitive team, but there is no incentive to build a winning team. Would they spend money on bringing Boyle back? Would they take Fish from Man U to shore up the defence? Woudl they pay good money for Marshall? Or do they just send up a load of kids and see how they get on, maybe throw in a few journeymen to give them a bit of backbone. It may work out, but I cant really see the upside for Hibs here.

Agreed Dolf...........its OK at present whilst they are on the EPL gravy train but what will be the benefit when eventually they get relegated, which will happen?? Think Hibs will have to take loans in this window but then look to rebuild with actual signings in the Summer........mind you Hibs have been rebuilding for years.
