They still sell out though drj. I looked online and saw some game 7 tickets for re-sale in the lower sections for $1000 up to $10000 each. This is only the first round. If they do by chance advance further those prices are only going one way. I think existing season ticket holders get first dibs on playoff tickets then sell off some for inflated prices to recoup the cost of the tickets. Should the team reach the final then they already have their ticket bought and paid for by others. The re-sale site is sanctioned by the team and is there to protect against counterfiet tickets being printed like at Tynie. If you buy your ticket anywhere else you are taking a big risk of getting ripped off. And yes it is out of reach of many of the true fans but what big time sport is not these days?

Another thing is the 'Novelty" factor of not having been a playoff team since 2006. Had this been an annual occcasion the prices may have been a bit more reasonable...but then again who knows. My son bought 2 tickets for a league game in March for us two and after all was said and done that little trp probably cost me close to a grand with hotel, pub before game, mealsand drinks at the game ($11.50 for a beer and we had a few each) petrol for the car for 600KM round trip. Not a cheap outing but hey ye cannae take it with ye.

End of first period Oilers 0-0 Sharks. There was no major first 10 min push as I thought we would see from the Sharks. In fact I think the Oilers had the better of the period. Outshot them 9-6.
Edit: 1-0 Oilers 1 min into the second period!
Edit: 2-0 Oilers 2 mins in.
Edit: 2-0 end of two periods. After the Oilers went 2-0 up the Sharks put on a big push and the oil started leaking a bit (pun intended). But they managed to withstand the pressure and even killed off a penalty with 3 mins to go in the period. I am sure there will be another major pushback from the Sharks in the third period. But as they push it may leave them exposed on the counter.
Edit: Interesting stat. During the regular season the Oilers won 29 of 32 games when leading going into the third. The Sharks came back to win only once all season when losing after 2 periods......
Edit: 2-1 . 8 mins to go.😱
Edit: Too many men on the ice penalty against The Oilers.😱
1:43 to go. Still 2-1
Edit: 3-1 empty net goal. .3 sec left.
Official. Just as I called itOilers win in 6

Next up The Anaheim Ducks. Series starts on Thursday I think. Another difficult series coming up but The OIlers more than held their own against them this season. As I said before anything beyond the first round is a bonus and a fantastic learning experience for this young team.

Round 2 starts Wed. night. Oilers in Anaheim for games 1 and 2. Think we might lose this series in 6 games but we could just as easily win it in 6 too. Gut says lose , though we did have the better of them over the regular season. I guess that is why they play the games. Isn't it? Not sure how much of this series I will get to watch as my big sister announced a couple of days ago she was coming over on the spur of the moment for a visit. She got a cheap ticket from her son who is a pilot for B.A. and could not refuse. Benefit of being retired just being able to up and go on a moments notice! She arrived tonight.

Game 1 goes to the Oilers with a hard fought 5-3 victory in Anaheim tonight. This young team is again up against a team of wiley old veterans in the Ducks but refused to cave in to their much greater experience. Down 1-0 the Oil came back to take a 3-1 lead halfway through the third. Then Anaheim decided to kick it up a notch with the intensity and after a couple of loose rebounds from Oilers goalie Cam Talbot the Ducks had tied it up with about 8 mins left. It looked headed for overtime until Oilers defenceman Adam Larrson went on a rare foray from end to end and banked the puck in off a Duck defender to make it 4-3 with about 4 mins remaining. The Ducks ended up pulling the goalie with about 1 min 30 sec left and as is often the case they gave up an empty netter to lose 5-3. Only game one but a road win is a great start to the series and gives the Oilers home ice advantage which could end up being huge by the time this series ends.

Game 2 tonight in Anaheim and the Oilers take it by a 2-1 scoreline. !-0 after 1 period 2-1 after 2 and 2-1 final. Goalie Cam Talbot saved 39 out of 40 shots tonight. The only goal he let in was a powerplay goal. great nights work from him. He really bailed his team mates out tonight along with lefty and righty (his 2 goal posts). The teams now head back to Edmonton for games 3 and 4 with the distinct possibility the Oilers could win in 4 straight games. I have my doubts but it would be nice. While these 2 games were in Anaheim , there were also 2 full houses at the arena back in Edmonton watching the games on the big screen above centre ice. They charged $5 a ticket with all the proceed going to charity. Nice touch.
EdiT: This result means of course that Hearts will not win against Partick. Could mean a draw though , not a guaranteed loss.

Well! Last night was (I hope ) a bit of a wake up call for the Oilers. They spotted the Ducks a 3-0 lead before pegging it back to 3-3 and then finally succumbing 6-3 . I did not get to pay as much attention to the game as I would have liked as we had a family dinner going on but it looked to me like Oiler goalie Cam Talbot did not have one of his finest games. First 2 shots on goal he let in and from there on it was an up hill battle. He will I am certain be ready for the next game (4) tomorrow. Oilers still in a good position overall being up 2-1 in the series but the next game becomes pivotal. Either 3-1 up with a stranglehold on the series or tied 2-2 going back to Disneyland for game 5.
